Join Us on a sacred Kailash Pilgrimage during the auspicious Saga Dawa Festival. Kailash pilgrimage (KORA) - 52 km trek around Mount Kailash.   The Saga Dawa Festival - Celebrates the birth, parinirvana (death), and enlightenment of Buddha. The most auspicious place to celebrate is the holy Mount Kailash.

Mount Kailash - the Stairway to Heaven is the most sacred and mysterious mountain peak of all the Himalayas. One KORA around the sacred mountain will wipe away all the sins (bad karma) of one's current lifetime.   The KORA trek during the Saga Dawa Festival, is a time when ones merits are accumulated from this holy pilgrimage and are multiplied 100,000 times.

This is a unique opportunity to prepare yourself and successfully complete a Kailash Pilgrimage with the guidance of Lama Tendar, during the most auspicious and significant time of a year - Saga Dawa Festival.   Places are limited to 20 pilgrims.

Tour Highlights

Embark on a journey that offers breathtaking views of the Tibetan high plateau, vibrant cities, and the deeply spiritual culture of Buddhism, culminating in the majestic Mount Kailash. This tour features the highest railway in the world, known as the Sky Train. Spanning over 3,000 kilometers and comprising 675 tunnels and bridges, the journey to Lhasa takes nearly 40 hours. The route traverses the Tanggula Mountain range at an altitude of 5,200 meters, showcasing stunning landscapes of snow-capped peaks, deserts, grasslands, sky lakes, and diverse wildlife. Along the way, the train passes through Lanzhou, the capital of Gansu province, and Xining, the capital of Qinghai province.

By joining a Mount Kailash pilgrimage, you can expect to experience the following:

  • Physical challenge: The trek around the base of the mountain can be demanding, with steep inclines and high altitudes. It is a good idea to be in good physical condition before embarking on the journey.

Itinerary 1-18 June 2025

Day 01 Arrival at Chengdu Shuangliu Airport and transfer to hotel.

Day 02 Transfer to train station by bus or subway and depart for Lhasa, known as the "Roof of the World."

Day 03 Travel through various cities of mainland China.

Day 04 Arrive in Lhasa, transfer to hotel, and rest for acclimatization at 3,650 meters.

Day 05 Visit Norbulingka Palace, Tibetan Museum, and Sera Monastery.

Day 06 Visit Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, and Barkhor Street.

Day 07 Drive 350 km to Shigatse, passing Yamdrok Lake, Karola Glacier, and Gyantse. Visit Gyantse Monastery and Tashilhunpo Monastery at 3,900 meters.

Day 08 Drive 460 km from Shigatse to Saga at 4,600 meters.

Day 09 Drive 500 km from Saga to Lake Manasarovar at 4,590 meters.

Day 10 Drive 20 km to Lhanag Lake (Demon’s Lake) and 50 km to Darchen at 4,650 meters.

Day 11 Begin the Kora (circumambulation) trek from Darchen to Dira-puk Monastery, 20 km at 4,900 meters.

Day 12 Trek to the North Face of Mount Kailash.

Day 13 Cross the Dolma La Pass at 5,630 meters and trek from Dira-puk to Zutul-puk Monastery, 22 km.

Day 14 Trek from Zutul-puk to Darchen, 10 km, and drive back to Saga.

Day 15 Drive from Saga to Shigatse.

Day 16 Drive from Shigatse to Lhasa.

Day 17 Rest and shopping day in Lhasa, with a farewell dinner party.

Day 18 Transfer to Lhasa airport and depart for home, concluding the trip.
